Afro-Indigenous Ensemble

MONDAYS 6 - 8 PM

Community through rhythm

Discover the roots

The Afro-Indigenous Ensemble will be a deep dive into the rhythms of Latin America and their African roots. Music—both traditional and contemporary—has long been a unifying force across Latin America and around the world.

In this hands-on class, we’ll explore a wide variety of rhythms from countries and territories such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Peru, tracing their origins and transformations over time. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician, you’ll be welcomed where you are and supported as you deepen your connection to Afro-Latin culture through rhythm, movement, and community.

We will be working together with various instruments such as timbales, congas, bongos among many others to help bring perspective and give you a clear concept of what each instrument represents and how it fits into the music of Latin America and the roots of where the music comes from.
