Songwriting and Spoken Word with Intuition

Freestyle, singing, and more

Learn the art of spoken word and cypher, and how to alchemize emotions and experiences to relay the present through storytelling. Exercises, History, and Collaboration will be key. This is a space of building your inner conscience, and knowing you are not alone.

This is a class meant to empower you and to defeat your inner critic. Students will embark on a journey of history, badu-ist teachings, and games to experience the art of thinking on your feet in a freestyle flow environment. We will discuss writing from the heart, tuning into the current frequency of the world, and how to alchemize our emotions to turn them into mantras of empowerment and truth. Memory games, learning about Griots and Cyphers and their roles in the world, and exploring our individual heritages, we will weave a tapestry of cross-cultural connection in order to build community the way ancestors before have done – through the boom bap.

Ages:	All Ages, focused on Youth 10 – 25 years

Location:	King Street Station
Tuition	Scholarships available. Full Program: Youth (age 10-25) : $100 Adults (26+): $400

Who’s this class for?	People who wish to explore their rappabilities or want to know how to think on the spot.
What to Bring	Students need to come to class with an open mind and open heart. We will be looking at the entanglements of everything; art, religion, history, stories, and hopes. Radical spaces of imagination are key.

Drop in to a session or two, or enroll for the season for the maximum impact.

You already have a built-in instrument.

Scholarships that cover up to 100% of your tuition are available as you register.

Singers who show commitment and improvement may be invited to take part in performances with The Rhapsody staff or Songsters.

I am a storyteller, oral historian, and world-builder specializing in the ability to create emotion and depth through my songwriting and expression. As a teaching artist in the Seattle Arts and Music scene for three years, I bring into the classroom joy and patience, you are just being yourself and developing a skill.
