Guitar, Ukulele, Bass: Beginner to Intermediate (Formerly Guitar Hangs)
with Shane Des Enfants

Wednesdays, 4-6 pm

Join us to learn guitar, bass, or ukulele in a welcoming and flexible learning environment for beginning and intermediate students. In addition to learning songs, students will gain a number of essential technical skills on their instrument while learning the historical context of the music. We'll explore blues, jazz, folk and American roots music, uniquely weaving basic music theory concepts, interactive song learning, and social music playing, with an emphasis on improvisation and soloing. Through the selected repertoire, you'll learn hidden or obscure stories of musicians and artists of color who greatly influenced American popular music, as well as the historical and social context of each song and composer.

For youth who are committed to showing up, practicing on their own, and willing to keep trying when the going gets tough!

No need to bring an instrument, but an open mind, patience with yourself, and a commitment to learning are essential.
