Born in London to a Caribbean mother and a British father, Karla spent most of her childhood with her nose in a book, setting up makeshift libraries in her bedroom. She eventually put all that reading to good use and now owns a document control company working on engineering and architectural projects in the transportation sector. If you’ve ever taken the Sound Transit light rail, there’s a good chance Karla has worked on that project.
Fluent in both French and German, Karla studied French literature and film in Paris before moving to Germany, where she taught English to business students. To her, languages are like music—both are ways to connect with people from different backgrounds and cultures. In her spare time, she attends at least one live show a week, making friends along the way.
When the opportunity came to join the Rhapsody Board, she jumped at it. It’s her way of giving back to a creative community that has been so welcoming. Through Rhapsody, she’s thrilled to see young people from all walks of life have the opportunity to follow their musical dreams, just as she was able to follow hers.
