A collaborative musical learning environment

Level up your music skills.

Learn music skills in a collaborative environment with The Rhapsody Project’s unique approach. Create lasting relationships as you learn basic musicianship and music history. For all levels of young musicians (ages 10-25) who want to improve musical skills, pick up a new instrument, or learn to perform in an ensemble.

Choose morning, afternoon, or both; Join for Week 1, Week 2, or both!

Need-based scholarships will be available. Details to come soon.

Week 1: Music & Heritage
Explore a range of musical styles in community.

Week 2: Blues Skills & Heritage
Further musical exploration with a strong Blues focus.

Dr. Chris Mena

Dr. Christopher Mena holds a PhD in Music Education from the University of Washington, Seattle. His research is focused on the historical impact of education policy on Mexican American access to music education. Dr. Mena has published widely in various journals and volumes as well as engaged in international work in music education including a four year summer residency to assist in developing a teaching artist program in the country of Myanmar. In addition to his scholarly work, he has served as a consultant for various arts organizations and school districts. Musically, Dr. Mena is a multi-instrumentalist (primarily percussion) who has deeply studied jazz, son jarocho, mariachi, rock, and Afro-Indigenous musical styles (e.g. salsa, festejo, lando).

Rhapsody Teaching Artists

Additional teachers from The Rhapsody Project’s Teaching Artist Roster will be engaged to serve this program in alignment with the instrument(s) that students are interested in learning. Each of our lead teaching artists is fully vetted with an interview process and background check, and our training process emphasizes best practices in terms of trauma-informed care and culturally relevant instruction.
