Music has always been a way communities gather, re Music has always been a way communities gather, remember, and carry stories forward. @FWAAMFest grows from that spirit. Founded by artist and educator Brandi Waller-Pace, the Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival brings together artists, culture bearers, and audiences to celebrate the deep Black traditions that shape American roots music. Through live music, storytelling, and shared space across generations, FWAAM creates room for connection, learning, and joy. If you’re in the Forth Worth area, you can catch our very own Lady A (@ladya_bluesdiva), Briar (@briar.sings), and Joe Seamons (@joebanjo) on stage at the festival, helping keep roots traditions alive! A member of our extended community, Brandi has long been committed to honoring Black traditions in American roots music. She founded @fwaamfest to create a space where history is honored alongside innovation, and where community gathering becomes a form of cultural preservation. Rooted in Fort Worth but resonating far beyond Texas, FWAAM Fest reminds us that Black music is American music, and that these traditions are living, evolving, and deeply connected to the communities that sustain them.
